What is the Suzuki Method?

The Suzuki Method is a well-established method based on principles of language-learning that is taught worldwide.  It offers students of all ages a chance to study a musical instrument – students as young as 3 years of age!

It is a method that brings together teachers, students, and families, with the principle that any child can learn and that the study of music will develop good character and ultimately bring about a better world.

The Suzuki Method for Brass

The Suzuki Method for trumpet and brass has been established as an official instrument area with the International Suzuki Association – a worldwide organization that offers opportunities and support for teacher development and for students and their families.  It all began with developing the method for trumpet.  After many years of work in the trumpet method, all brass instruments were invited to begin development in 2016.

Teachers who take Suzuki training come away with a renewed passion for playing, for teaching, and for sharing as part of a supportive community worldwide.   Many have seen their studios grow – both in numbers and in success!

Brass teachers who join the movement are stepping into a world of opportunity.  There is a wonderful and growing Suzuki brass community.  Now colleagues and collaborators, this community is a strong network of talented and passionate people working to contribute to the continuing development of the instrument methods within the brass area, and touching the lives of many students all over the world.  We have also been able to begin teaching these instruments to younger and younger students, giving them musical experience playing a brass instrument on par with other instruments.
